Reservoir Birds

February 13, 2012

So I began to read through online tutorials teaching me the working of the freely available  photo editing software, bearing the name of a  sadomasochistic character in the infamous basement scene from one of Quentin Tarantino’s classic films ‘Pulp Fiction’. The name of the software is  ‘Gimp’ and if you really are in search of something alternative to Photoshop that happens to be free this software has  all the bells and whistles.

So I took some time to create my first ‘mask’ in the process of editing the below photograph of  Southern Rockhopper penguins. The little white penguin inside the text ‘RESERVOIR BIRDS’ was created with the help of a mask. Hopefully in the coming days my skills will multiply and I will utilise them more frequently.

For anyone who hasn’t realised yet, ‘Reservoir Birds’ is a parody of another Tarantino’s movie; ‘Reservoir Dogs’. Google Image it to see what I am talking about.
